Job Description:

*** Active Secret Clearance Required ***

The MVM (Motor Vehicle Mechanic) will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining both light and heavy-duty construction vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance, consistent with AFSC 2T351 qualification standards (available online).

• Assess the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment.

• Identify and correct deficiencies.

• Analyze malfunctions through visual, auditory, or diagnostic equipment.

• Utilize diagnostic test equipment to diagnose and repair electronic-controlled equipment.

• Repair, adjust, overhaul, or replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as: Power and drive trains, Electrical systems, Air conditioning, Fuel, emission, and brake systems, steering assemblies, tracks, hydraulic systems, and equipment attachments.

• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble gasoline or diesel engines and components.

• Replace worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.

• Perform grinding, fitting, balancing, and arrange for welding or machining as needed.

• Adjust valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, traction units, and other equipment-specific systems.

• Time injection pumps and accessory shaft gear trains.

• Align bearing loads, gear tooth contact, and backlash to manufacturer specifications.

• Reassemble, adjust, and test repaired units for proper operation.

• Perform preventive and special maintenance tasks according to manufacturer maintenance schedules.

• Ensure corrosion control, winterization, storage, and shipment procedures are followed.

• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities.
