The Instrumentation & Control Systems group is a dynamic team in which engineering and design are combined to effectively support our clients. In addition to a solid education focusing on instrumentation and control systems design, a strong set of personal competencies is a prerequisite for success. Being a team player and having an ability to interact effectively with client organizations, others disciplines, vendors and contractors in our taskforce is essential.

The Instrumentation and Control Systems Design Supervisor is responsible for the development of technical drawings, data sheets, and wiring details for projects in the mineral processing industry.

The Instrumentation and Control Systems Design Supervisor will work in a multi-discipline project environment interfacing with other discipline engineers and team members, clients, and vendors.

• Day to day activities include:

• Supervise and provide guidance/assistance to project designers

• Assign work to teams, monitor and manage the work

• Develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline design work

• Develop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects

• Develop estimates and schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, including manpower forecasts

• Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts

• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria

• Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design

• Develop and update job execution plans

• Develop and build external relations with client representatives and interface closely with other discipline functions promoting Client Service Excellence

• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting

• Review 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings and the 3D model using 3D Review platform

• Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution

• Review layouts and/or schematics for conceptual and detailed designs developed by the design group

• Review fabricator drawings

• Review bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations

• Development of construction ready installation drawings and documents in accordance with the project design and client requirements including block diagrams; cable schedules; panel layouts; loop diagrams; wiring diagrams; instrument index and I/O documents; location drawings; installation details; layouts; sketches; MTOs; fiber connection drawings, 3D modeling etc.

• Provides input and review of contractors’ scope of work

• Practical knowledge of field installations

• Works independently

• Assures quality of work

• Proactive reporting of status/constraints to the lead designer or lead engineer.

Able to work in the office where the role is to be carried out (Note: a hybrid office/ Remote schedule may be possible for this position depending on the specific Project)
