Fluor Lead Piping Design Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

Job Description:

THIS POSITION IS BEING POSTED IN ANTICIPATION OF FUTURE WORK AND MAY NOT BE AN IMMEDIATE HIRE.

Senior design engineer/supervisor responsible for the piping design engineering for US government department of defense (DOD) and department of energy (DOE) facilities as well as commercial nuclear power generation facilities. Responsible for a broad range of piping design activities, including pipe routing and layout, stress analyses, hanger design, P&ID development support and review, and piping procurement activities. Responsible for the development of detailed material and purchase specifications for piping and fittings. Responsible for the preparation of piping bulk quantity estimates for proposals. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead Engineer or Area Lead on assigned projects or complex engineering assignments

  • Perform piping design evaluations and provide guidance to others in the application of nuclear codes and standards, licensing requirements, and NRC regulations.

  • Write/review specifications and scopes of work

  • Provide technical direction and assist in training engineers and designers in ASME Class 1, 2 and 3 piping analyses and design

  • Adherence to Quality Assurance programs

  • Incorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design

  • Assist in the development of engineers and designers, especially in the area of government projects undertaking and nuclear industry requirements and practices

  • Support project schedule development

  • Provide assistance, as requested, in the areas of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, and procurement activities

  • Assist in the development of department standards and procedures

  • Prepare manpower forecasts/staffing plans

  • Plan, organize, and schedule work tasks for the team

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve problems

  • Review supplier drawings for information relative to design of government and commercial nuclear facilities.

  • Provide construction and commissioning support with occasional site visits.

  • Support proposal development and required estimating

  • Prepare and present technical and marketing presentations related to government facility and power plant layout and piping designs

Position will require occasional travel and potential for planned and unplanned overtime to meet project schedules.
