Job Description:

experienced in leading the geotechnical activities on major FEED, EPC and PMC projects.

Permanent staff position, as member of Fluor’s Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) Department based in Farnborough, Hampshire. This role is principally an office based role but it is expected that the candidate will be willing to travel, as required, to support the project needs.

Candidate is expected to perform a leadership role in the field of geotechnical engineering and should be able to demonstrate key management attributes addressing the core skills of adaptability, accountability, business acumen, customer focus and drive for results as well as other factors. This is in parallel to their technical knowledge and expertise.

Scope of activities

Reporting to the Discipline Manager and Project Engineering Manager, the candidate shall perform their duties aligned with the Company Requirements by delivering their scope of work to schedule, to budget and in accordance with Company Activity Plans and any specific execution requirements of the individual projects. The position is a technical and leadership role. Demonstrable experience of managing internal resources and 3rd party contractors to execute all phases of geotechnical investigation and reporting is expected and then supporting the project by providing guidance and direction of the engineering design of sub surface structures and pipelines based on the available survey data.

The candidate will be responsible for the geotechnical execution of strategy for a variety of business lines including Oil and Gas, Power and Infrastructure and are expected to be able to demonstrate this experience within their CV. Typical responsibilities and activities include preparing project specifications, design basis and requisitions, conceptual design, review and assessment of 3rd party survey reports, basic engineering (FEED) and detailed design and engineering (EPC and EPCm) for reimbursable and lump sum projects. The candidate will be expected to perform resource planning, estimates and schedule planning or support this effort undertaken by others.

Given the seniority of the role, the candidate will be requested to support other Fluor offices located round the globe to provide geotechnical support and direction. The role may also require the candidate to coach and mentor other engineers to expand the capabilities of the Farnborough office.

Candidate requires strong leadership/people skills, relationship building skills and dynamic approach to job execution. Excellent organisational and administration skills also key requirement. Due to the nature of the work, the candidate may be requested to support multiple projects simultaneously and assist the department manager in the recruitment and training of other geotechnical resources.

In addition the role will involve regular contact and coordination with Client and/or Owner representatives, consultants, specialists, vendors and construction contractors regarding CSA design, engineering and construction activities
