Fluor Designer I in Aurora, Colorado
The purpose of this position is to work on drawings of limited to moderate scope to support the Design Area Lead.
Prepares complete sets of complex drawings or computer models that include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings
Drawings or models include complex design features that require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray
Assignments regularly require the use of mathematical formulas to draw land contours or to compute weights, center of gravity, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of material, etc.
Prepares complete sets of drawings of test equipment to be manufactured from layouts, models, or sketches
Prepares final drawings
Reduce field notes and calculates true grades
Notifies supervisor of conflicting details in design
Adhere to strict CAD drafting standards as outlined by the CAD drafting supervisor when creating new drawings or revision updates to existing drawings
Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures
Plan, organize, and carry out assignments as directed
Coordinates as-built drawings and project design drawing packages with designers, engineers, customers, and other contractors as assigned
Other duties as assigned
Supervision Exercised: May occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details. May provide advice and guidance to lower level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
Typical and Preferred Requirements:
* Must have an active (or ability to obtain and maintain) TS/SCI with CI Polygraph *
Complete 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and other Autodesk software in conformance with requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria
Receive, review, format, and electronically file drawings supplied by outside engineers, vendors, clients, and other groups
Convert existing 2D drawings to current CAD drafting standards
Create 2D/3D/BIM drawings using external references and survey data while coordinating various disciplines
Produce, update, and maintain design and as-built drawings following established professional practices, codes, standards, and procedures while incorporating redline changes and coordinating revision releases
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Position may be located in a wide variety of environments, from conventional indoor office workspace to project worksites with harsh, working and living conditions. Position requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions. Typical Education & Experience: Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study preferred with a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience. Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials. Practical field experience.
